Ok, so I am going to be talking a lot about the steps it take to lead a healthy lifestyle on this page. I want to start off by saying I AM NOT A DOCTOR OR A SCIENTIST!!! So, any of the things I tell you about eating or working out might not be right for you and might not be beneficial because every body is different, but I will discuss how I have transformed my diet and fitness plan and how that has helped me in immense ways. The first element I want to talk about is food. I mean food is everything to me, like literally everything to me!!!! I love every single type of food, from ice cream to french fries to quinoa to pad thai to tacos to mac n cheese; there aren't a lot of things I wouldn't and couldn't gobble up in a minute. BUT, while food is amazing and brings all of us so much happiness, food can also be poison and your body's worst enemy. It took me a while to understand that. Sometimes its hard for us to believe that that warm chocolatey cookie our mouths are watering over could be dangerous to our well being.
I am working on eating as clean as possible at this point in my life. When I say "clean", I do not mean I am on a specific diet with specific guidelines, it just means I try and eat the good stuff. The good stuff is fruit, veggies, meats, nuts, whole grains, cocoa powder, honey, even popcorn!! There are so many delicious ingredients and meals that are "clean". Basically what it means is I try to avoid things like unnatural sugars, high fructose corn syrup, and all those other ingredients that you can't even pronounce on the label of whatever you're eating.

From my personal experience, one of the best ways to start to see improvements in your body is by trying to cut out as much sugar as possible. This was EXTREMELY hard for me. Those of you that know me know that I have a huge sweet tooth. Desserts have always been my biggest craving and a huge part of my childhood. When I was three years old and my brother was being born, I would not let my grandma take me to see him because I had to finish my ice cream!!! Now, I try to limit myself to one or two desserts a week (depending on what's going on). Of course, if you have a special event or dinner, you shouldn't feel like you have to restrict yourself from enjoying the sweets, but keep in mind that indulging in these kinds of food every single day can prevent weight loss and lead you on a path to addiction in the future. Yes, I said addiction. I know that seems like a really strong word when talking about something that seems so innocent like cupcakes and lollipops, but sugar is just like any drug. I've seen sugar addiction in my own household, and let me tell you it is not a habit that dies easy. That is why I feel it is SO important to start good eating habits young. We are so lucky to live in a time where eating healthy is a much bigger concern because we can actually be educated on the effects of what we put into our bodies.
Eating clean has done amazing things for me, on the inside and outside, and I am so excited to share more and more of that with you all! This first post was pretty general, but I will get into much more detail as we go on. Stay tuned for much more information on food!!!!!! YUMMM!!!
I challenge you to eat clean today!
